“Global Views on China” Fujian Series – A Visit to Quanzhou
On December 12, the members of the “Global Views on China” cultural delegation departed Xiamen by bus and headed to Quanzhou. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the historic Kaiyuan Temple, a site rich in history and a testament to the harmonious integration of diverse religious cultures. The solemn grandeur of the Mahavira Hall and the towering East and West Pagodas left the visitors in awe.

After exploring Kaiyuan Temple, the group strolled down the bustling West Street. The array of traditional snacks and dazzling handicrafts offered a feast for the senses and a deep dive into the local folk customs.
On December 13, the “World Youth Explore Fujian” delegation visited Xunpu Village, a place steeped in the vibrant Minnan culture. Here, they experienced the unique charm of traditional floral hairpins and attire. The girls, adorned with intricate floral hairpins, exuded elegance and grace, while the boys, dressed in traditional costumes, displayed an air of poise and vigor. Together, they became a striking presence in Xunpu Village, blending seamlessly into the daily lives of the local residents. Passersby paused to admire and capture this youthful cultural exchange that transcended borders and traditions.


In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Quanzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall. From the intricate craftsmanship of marionette carving to the ingenious Yongchun paper weaving art, Quanzhou’s intangible cultural heritage projects left them in awe, their eyes filled with admiration and respect for these precious cultural treasures.
