Youth Journey Series Report 3: Visit Ningbo!

On July 21, the Youth Journey—2024 China-US University Students Cross-Cultural Exchange Delegation departed from Hangzhou to Ningbo, and visited Jinshan Shuanglu Battery Co., Ltd. and Zhoushan Port Chuanshan Port Area in Ningbo. Before departure, the editor was still worried that the students would resist visiting companies for the whole day, but unexpectedly, the careful arrangements of the Ningbo Municipal Government Information Office completely dispelled our concerns.

At Shuanglu Group, the students saw the fully automated production workshop and learned about the battery production process. The editor also realized that our domestic brands have already gone abroad and competed with world brands for the European and American markets.

At the Ningbo Zhoushan Port, we learned about the throughput of the world’s second largest container terminal. The area of the terminal is twice the size of that of American ports. If all of Ningbo’s freight terminals are included, Ningbo Zhoushan Port ranks first in the country, which also amazed the American students who came to visit.

Finally, we came to the Dongqian Lake Tea Pavilion – Freedom Shore, which was also the highlight of the whole day. We had an open-air barbecue on the shore of Dongqian Lake and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Singing, dancing and playing games made every American child excited. Ningbo left a beautiful and deep impression on the students of our field trip group. Beatrice De Salles, a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, said excitedly: The event has only started for 3-4 days, but she has seen positive changes in American students, including herself. She hopes that in the next week we can make progress together and achieve our goals together.
