Uniting Forces and Driving Changes: Global Partnerships Forging Ahead Against Climate Challenges Beyond COP28
As the new year dawns, a collective of dedicated changemakers has come together, spurred by the success of COP 28 in Dubai, to take decisive actions against climate change. Their unified aim is to combat climate crisis and drive sustainable development, aligning efforts with the United Nations’ 17 SDGs.
Global CSR Foundation, American Medical Women’s Association, and Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation, alongside their corporate partner KuCoin – a leading global cryptocurrency exchange – have demonstrated leadership by initiating substantial actions in the beginning of 2024. The donation of US$ 100,000 will fuel three charitable projects aimed at promoting sustainable development and addressing global climate challenges.
The donation will support three impactful projects: the Climate Change CSR Project by Global CSR Foundation, the Menstrual Equity Project by the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), and the African Children’s Solar Lamp Project by the Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation. These initiatives focus on critical sustainable development aspects—mitigating climate change impacts, advancing women’s health, and enriching children’s education in Africa.

First of all, the Climate Change CSR Project introduces the Climate Change Bucket (CCB), specially designed to assist women and girls disproportionately affected by global climate change. A total of 2000 Climate Change Buckets will be distributed across different locations, providing essential support to communities grappling with climate-related effects. The breakdown of distributions includes 1000 CCBs for the Commonwealth of Bahamas, 500 CCBs for AWHS – American Women’s Hospital Services which is an affiliate of AMWA and 500 CCBs for St. Jude Hospital and Research to help Communities in Africa, contributing to climate resilience and adaptation efforts in these areas.
Each Climate Change Bucket contains a carefully curated set of items, ensuring comprehensive support for affected communities. These will include a bucket, safety mat, thermometer, earth hug pillow, and soap. This collection of essential items aims to address immediate needs and help in coping with the diverse challenges posed by climate-related impacts.
Secondly, AMWA’s Menstrual Equity Project is dedicated to empowering socially disadvantaged girls and women with sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions. This initiative will allocate a total of 1000 reusable menstrual packages, each comprising 10 pads and 2 cups, to support three organizations. Specifically, 500 units will assist the First Lady of Suriname’s Menstrual Equity Project. Additionally, St. Jude’s Children and Research Hospital and domestic violence shelters in New York and California will each receive 250 units. This effort emphasizes the commitment to ensuring accessible and essential menstrual hygiene products for those in need.
The contribution to “The Light Up Africa” project, named “One Africa Child, One Solar Lamp,” will illuminate 25 schools across Nigerian communities lacking electricity access with 2500 solar reading lamps, with the inaugural event scheduled on January 29th at Cornella Connelli College in Uyo, Nigeria.
In the words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development is at the core of the 17th UN’s SDGs.
This sustainable partnership between Global CSR Foundation, American Medical Women’s Association, Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation, and KuCoin is a testament to their long-term commitment to combating the global climate crisis. Through charitable donations and implementation, they underscore a steadfast dedication to building a better, more sustainable future, marking significant strides toward achieving UN SDGs by 2030 and leave no one behind!
